Head studs
Well I install my raceware head studs the other day. I did what it said to do and installed them only hand tight. I did however have an issue with one that only went in about a 1/4 of the way and then Stopped. Should I run it in the rest of the way with pliers to even it out with the rest of them? One other thing what are you guys torquing the head to with these studs. Thanks. BTW this is an engine i am building and not the one in my car.

RE: Head studs
This needs to be posted in the 1.8t section over in vortex if you havent already. Torque specs should be in the 1.8t section faq also.

RE: Head studs
Make sure there is no fluid or gunk in hole, it will hydraulic lock and you won't be able to move stud down anymore. remove stud and clean out hole and suck out fluid. This is a common thing cause when you pull head all sorts of coolant and oil can go in dem dare holes.

RE: Head studs
I know what you are saying but this is on a short block that I ordered(never had coolant or oil in it). I did everything to clean out the hole short of running in a tap to clean up the treads....I am sure I will be ok as long as its even with then others and not to deep..right???

RE: Head studs
can't hurt to take it out and run a tap through to chase the threads.
