Well the time is allmost here...
My 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro 5sp. has 2 1/2 months left on the factory warranty/free scheduled maint.
I just had it in to my dealer about 5k miles ago for oil change, "30K mile service", had my state inspection done, and got a new battery.
I'm pretty sure this will be the last time i get anything free from my dealer, so i'm trying to be as thourogh as possible with this last visit. My odomator is reading about 33-34K and here's what i have noted so far....
-Oil change
-"40K mile service" - i'm hoping that they'll do this now for free, but is there really anything that important/expensive involved?
-New remote batteries - they're not working very well *wink *wink
-Wiper blades
-Check bushings on control arms for wear - (these wear and become fairly pricey to replace if I remember..right? Or am I thinking of some other bushings?)
............................
And here's where I could really use your help... What else should have them look at and check while it's free?
I'll be really pissed if 6 mos. after the warranty expires something breaks that i could have had it checked and possibly replaced for free just a few months earlier.

Do the pollen filter yourself. 5 minutes and less than $20 if you buy it on ebay.
Brakes
and yeah... check into the recall on the front suspension. Tie rods and control arms should be checked regardless.
Have tire tread checked for any excessive wear, too.

and it's about time to take off my winter tires and put my summer's on.. do you think the dealer would mount/ balance them for free?

ImolaS4 is right about brakes. I asked my dealer at the 50K mi to check my brakes. They wrote on the bill "customer complained about squeaky brakes" and changed my pads.
If you tell them your temperature guage reads cold and then normal with a warmed up engine, they'll replace the sensor.
