Help Steering Problem Cant diagnose

I have a 1999 a4 2.8, it was involved in a minor side crash, fixed that it hit only the passenger fender side and wheel.

The problem is the steering is not there NO POWER,

example im driving and throw the steering wheel to one side and it stays doesnt rewind.

first i thought it might be the pump since i didnt see the fluid moving, then found that it was blocked. so i unblocked it and it still doing the same thing.

so im wondering if the pump got meessed up and is not pumping enough.

Or if the steering rack pinion got messed up in the accident. will the rack not make the steering wheel not go back to the orginal spot?

Trying to drive the car on the highway is hard since where ever you leave the wheel thats where the car goes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

RE: Help Steering Problem Cant diagnose

I don't have any ideas, but my truck was hit dead-on on the wheel in the side and had a similar problem. I think the tie rods came loose on it. Anyway, usually a hit to the wheel causes a lot of damage to the internal workings of the car. I would take it to a good tire shop. At the very least it needs a wheel alignment anyways. They can tell you if some of the steering parts are messed up.
