How long has your clutch lasted???
Just got a 98 a42.8Q, manual trans......
I don't drive it hard yet, but I was curious....How long did the clutch last in your cars?? I have 104,300k [64, 812miles], and have only put on 1000k. Its all stock, but I don't know if the clutch has ever been replaced. The car runs great and shifts smoothly, and the clutch FP catches at just a bit above 1/3 of the pedal length. What do you think??
I was told driven well, that one clutch should last from 200,000-400,000 km, by a formula 300/Rally racer.....

I just got an auto, so I can't really help you, but if you don't get satisfactory answers in THIS thread, I saw several posts in the "whats your mileage" thread that talked about when their clutches needed replacing and such...
depends mostly on how you drive the car. i've heard of them going at 80-100k while others have had 120+k and still plenty of life left. as long as your not too hard on it i wouldn't expect for you to have to replace it for a long, long time
heres a few from it, just to save these guys from responding again...

My Nissan Sentra had 250,000km on it when I gave it away, and that was an original clutch (with no signs of slippage). But then, I've double-declutched most of my life ("double-clutch" to you?), so that was a great help.
It's likely you can't possibly know how the previous owners have treated a car. The clutch could be perfect, but the thrust bearing wear out, if someone makes a habit of riding the clutch pedal (in this case, you'd hear a noise at the point where you first start to push down the clutch pedal).
One way to test for sure if the clutch has any slip, is to drive at 30mph in second gear, and simultaneously brake with the left foot. Don't overdo it (don't kill your car), but you should certainly find that the car will slow down, and the engine too. If the car slows down but the engine doesn't... you gotta problem!
