Howling noise from front

I have a howling noise coming from what seems like the front right. It gets louder as I go faster. The front wheels do not move at all left to right or up and down, so I think the bearings are good. Any ideas?

Sorry its a 97 2.8 Manual quattro. I am not sure how to classify the howling. Its just gets louder with higher speed.

A howling will usually indicate that a wheel bearing is bad. Moving the wheel up down left or right will not tell you if a wheel bearing is bad.

I would take a venture at the wheel bearing as well....

is it constant? no pulses?

Sounds like a wheel bearing.

Its completly constant. Is there a way to check for it, or is it pretty much you have to get to it to see if its bad?

It's a wheel bearing.

Make a hard right turn. If it goes away it's definately a wheel bearing.

Is there a tech article on replacing it somewhere?
