Hybrid?

This probably should go in the turbo section but all the smart people are over here so.

I was wondering if it would be posible to turn a K03 into a hybrid turbo. I mean i guess ideally you could do it with in turbo but would it be practicle. Think you could upgrade to a gt30/k03 hybrid turbo. get almost all teh benifits of a gt30 but run it on almost entierly stock parts. obvioulsy it wouldn't be as officeient but it would still alot CFM than a stock K03 and probably more than a K04 but it would cost dramiticly less. I don't know it was just a thought i was wonderin if anyone had ever heard of on or new anyone who had tried it?

WEll actually i was browsing google and i found that apparently in the U.S. people have been running hybrid K03/K04's for some time now they have also mixed up with like K04/K16 and such its a really interesting idea.

WEll i was just thinking that if you took say a K04 turbine and atatched it to like a gt30 compressor you would get the benifit of the quick spool and the benifit of decenly large boost. I dont know if its posible the size difference may be to great but I'm just wondering if it can be done

WEll still searching on this topic away from the extreme theries i have found that aside from the K03/K04 there is a E-05 turbo. I've see fairly good reviews on it but havn't been able to find any specs yet.

This is mainly what I've found
The key performance advantage of the E-05 lies in the design of the exhaust wheel. It is much larger and has a more aggressive blade profile for faster spool up. The design of this wheel also incorporates a much more efficient exhaust gas outlet, allowing for increased power at higher RPM. The net result is minimal turbo lag and great upper end output!

interesting stuff. i have herd about the e05 but i dont remember anything about it

RE: Hybrid?

Well it seems like it caust a bit more than the K04(of coarse i got my prices from the manufacturere on the e05) but it gives you a quicker spool starting at 2800 and it gives a greater boost past 5000 where the k03 and k04 begin to taper off. Granted a 1.8t dosnt have much headroom above 5000 but its still another 1000 to 1500 rpms you can pull strongly at

As I've read it is larger and more aggresive than a K04

RE: Hybrid?

what do you mean head room above 5000rpms?
