I am cursed!!
Took the car to the shop today to get the water pump and timing belt replaced. The belt broke when I got to the shop. I can not afford this car. I stuck with paying for a car that is not not running.
When did it break?
Who was driving?
Who tried to crank it over again?
Were you in the workshop?
Let me know.
That is seriously the worst fu.cking luck I have ever heard of!! Although I think you are being ripped off!

Seems strange, Did the engine die on the way over? If not, it didn't break.
How many miles on your car?
I believe Audi of America may be covering repairs needed for premature timing belt failure.
My manual states to have it replaced at 105K miles. In effect, that is an "implied warranty", ie, they are stating that it will last that long and that you shouldn't have to worry about it earlier.
I suspect, that they don't have data to back up that number, and that Marketing said (If we tell them to change it every 60K miles, it will make the cost of owning the car high, so lets get the maintenance costs down by telling people not to change it until 105K miles (I can hear the discussions in my head between engineering and marketing).

post some details, you may have some options here. who was driving when it broke? when exactly did it break? are you absolutely sure that it even broke at all? did your car die when it 'broke'?
