T belt doesnt affect performance unless the timing was messed up before and you corrected it. But good job, its a serious sense of accomplishment isnt it?

oh yeasss. big relief, i was nervous to drve the car knowing the belt would break, now i'm nervous something else would break, DAMN VW[&o]

yea i dind' tthink it's affect preformance, but for somereason, the car used to pick up like a 4cyl before, 0-60 in 8.5 at best, thjats ragging the **** out of everything. maybe te belt streched or something

now the car just feels like it wants to rev

timming is on the old marks. i used nail polish to mark the old marks.

oh, it's a 8hr job

The only thing that could cause a performance decrease with the belt is if it had slipped a tooth or two. That would retard timing. Then you ould have had to correct it when you changed the belt to get back that "good feeling". That is entirely possible that you did fix such a problem.

Good job, though, man. I remember when I did my first timing belt - great feeling of accomplisment.

Slipping a tooth on a tbelt = interference... or valve + piston = bad head.

Maybe its psycological...

what else did you do? Oil? Coolant? Filters?

not necessarily, one tooth will not cause interference with the head
