Default Intercooler hose & 710 P DV

I was changing out my DV valve today on my 01 A4 b/c there has been some power loss, which I believe is a boost leak somewhere. I took the DV off my TT and replaced it with a Forge so now I have the 710 P. Is this valve ok to put on the B5? I know most of you guys talk about the 710N but I had this one just lying around so instead of buying another....

Also when I pulled the intercooler hose apart I noticed that there was quite a bit of oil in the hose, not dried but liquid & fresh in color. What is the deal with this?? is it normal or is it a problem? Any input would help, I don't have a great deal of knowledge when it comes to the turbo system, I'm still learning.
Thanks for your help.....

yeah, the 710N is great to use on the b5, good upgrade for cheap ::thumbsup:: ...and as far as the oil in the intercooler hoses...its just a way for the motor to help recirculate oil thruout the motor to keep it well lubed. nothing to be worried about.

so no worries man.

Yeah i noticed that too when I cleaned out my TB. Just rinse it out, clean your throttle body as it may be carbon from the TB. Nothing to worry about though its normal.

i call the BS flag. if you have oil in the intake side..especially in your TB..its not a good sign..probably have oil getting pasted through the turbo and as far as it lubing up the motor? explain that one...one its in the intake manifold its gonna be burned if it goes any further...its not gonna get shot up into the valve train or anything.. i had a turbo that did that..replaced it and all the oil problems went away.....

Ok you are new here, I wouldn't start calling BS on people just yet.

Search on Audiworld, Audizine and this forum for "clean throttle body". If you search both the first two forums you will notice that many of the posts that come up in the results mention people finding some black syrup like crap in their intercooler piping from the SMIC to the TB. I noticed this (a tiny bit, not much). I washed it out. I checked it 2 weeks later and nothing there. I have no idea what it is, but lots of people have it. My car is a 2000 so it could have built up for 5 years and the amount that was in there was like a teaspoon.

Your throttle body has carbon buildup on it. It could be carbon that has mixed with some water that has gotten into the intercooler piping and made this black liquid.

EDIT: How much oil was there in that hose?? I noticed a teaspoon or 2 - if you have a lot thats not good.

Other than a leaky valve cover gasket, I think that the common burning oil smell could have a lot to do with this... When i do my valve cover gasket im sure the inside of the cover will need steamed or degreased and ill clean out the IC/intake piping at that time too... Thanks for the brain srorm you have created in my brains.

Yeah no worries, I had to re-read his post and noticed the words "Fresh" and "a lot" so that definately isn't normal.
