Default intermittent cold start?

Hey Audi's,

Wondering if anyone could help, I have an intermittent cold start (first to two cranks won't start, always on third try) issue, My A4 1.8tQ 2001 is still under warranty (4 more months or 2k).

I brought my audi into an audi dealer for a day and left it overnight and they tested it all day but they did not find any problem. I brought it home next day, before I went to work.......and it happen again, cold start.

I told them it is INTERMITTENT.......They said well, we couldn't find any problem but if it happens again, bring it back??

Sounds like they didn't know what to do?

Anyone has this problem, or had, or knows someone that had it?

Thank you so much!

if you can, leave the car there overnight, then go there the next morning and test it with them...they may just be lying to you....stealerships love to do those kinds of things.

I have a similar problem with my 01 A4. 68k miles. I have a jump started and the car starts right up. The battery tested bad, but replacing it did not solve my problem. Maybe summer will.

I would appreciate any feedback too.

definately wouldnt be the timing belt, but yeah, like jest said, fuel pump or something...

could this be a sludging issue? I've never experienced the sludging... but from the sounds of it, sludging would affect the car a lot if it was cold.
