Just bought a crashed A4!
I picked up a crashed 97 2.8 5-speed A4 off ebay for 1500 bucks. Havent gone to look at it yet. Hit something in the snow and messed up the front bumper and puntured the radiator. Hood seems to be fine. Those two parts are cheap, but I'm not sure whats between the bumper and rad. I used to do body work and remember some sort of metal/styrofoam bumper brace in there. Im sure its ruined but cant find the part anywhere on the internet. I think I got a good deal on this car so far. He said he put a new timing belt, water pump, cv boots, motor mount, brake calipers. Said theres no noise from the front suspension. Its got 140k on it, he bought it with 110. Maybe someone before him already repaired the control arms? Just looking for a good commuter. I hate the way my s10 crew cab drives. Good truck but not fun to drive. I also have a drag camaro so Im not going to put a nickel into this car to make it faster. Just want reliability and cant wait have a nice smooth car!
Anyone got any info on what the part is under the bumper cover?

There is the power steering cooler and AC condensor, and that's all if I remember right. There is also some plumbing for the headlight washers.
It's good you don't want to make it faster, because you'd have a hard time with that since it's a 12v V6. I do thing that you should look into some coilovers/sways/wheels so you can take full advantage of the Quattro system.

Perfect picture. I imagine that is mushed up. Where can I get that part? Id like to stay away from the dealer. He said maybe Ac condensor. Im not worried about that. Dont use ac anyway. Power steering cooler? Never heard of that.lol. That should be cheap as well. Could probably even use a cheap tranny cooler. Heres the only picture of the front I have. Cant seem to find the button to upload a pic. Heres the ebay link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...74185&rd=1
there is a steel line about a quarter inch thick that is on the lower right of the rad if you're standing in front of the car. i forget if it's the power steering one of the tranny one.

edit-
Here's a picture of the front end with the AC condensor detatched (on the left) and the power steering cooler hanging (the sideways U shaped thing on the bottom right of the radiator).

lmao. no i'm not telling him to turbo his car lol. that pic is from a 1.8 it's the top rly long silver part he wants, not the bottom one lol. trying to turbo a 12v is a waste of time and money haha. pyro, do you have a pic of the back of your front bumper?
Ohh okay, i was wondering what you were trying to say. Nah I didn't take any of it, I'll see if I can find some pictures in DIY's real quick.
Here we go!

Not a stock bumper, but it's the same idea.

I see. Im not worried then. I figured it would be easy to fix, but wasnt sure. He never mentioned if the air bags went off.......so maybe whatever he hit was low enough it didnt hit the bumper brace. Im going to go check it out and pick it up this week. Ha. Thought of fabbing up my own turbo for it had entered my mind. If I did it, I would do a rear mount, with a real small turbo to spool up quick and only put out like 6 or 7 psi. Havent even seen the car yet, so I dont know what kind of room im dealing with. I will probably never do it. Ive been toying with the idea of taking off the centrifugal supercharger on my camaro and installing twin turbos. There seems to be a lot more info on the web about turbos than there was 5 years ago.
