K&N air filter & AuDIs
hey guys i was wondering what you guys think of this, i herd that K&N filters are good filter so i decided to replace my originial one,
Took out the old one it was the Thick original AUDI filter from NOV of 2003, how ofter are they supposed to be changed anyways?
so is any of you using the K&N filters and what do you think about it? is it okay to replace the Oem audi filter with these filters or its better to use the Oem audi filters?
THanks

It's really not a problem, I've had mine for the past 4 months and there's no CEL or issue with the MAF whatsoever, just remember to clean your MAF every now and then and don't overoil the filter when you clean it.
I had my K&N panel in since just after 50k miles. At 64k, no CEL due to the filter. I just went out to my car not even an hour ago to check if it was time to clean my MAF. I opened the vag and logged channel 002 while at idle. The grams/second came in between the acceptable 2-4g/s range, hugging the 2.7 - 3.2 range. I will probably try a WOT tomorrow while driving but everything seems just fine after several months.
also, I was looking at the sticker K&N requests you put on the airbox, it says to clean every 50k?! That seems a bit far fetched.

hey guys after having the filter in my car for a day i have been reading all the stuff they say about K&N filters and MAF problems so i decided to take it out and replaced it with Purolator (A47039) air filter. The guy at the storesaid that its almost the same exact one as the OEM air filters for Audi a4's. what do you think?
I looked in the owners manual and it spacifically says something about never use filters which are washed with gasoline, oil . ect. so i think im gona stick to the book, i mean there isnt much difference between the K&N and regular air filter as long as its not dirty it;s fine. If your car is hooked up then i understand but if everything is stock then there is no point right?

I hear it'll cause the oil to get on your MAF sensor

I have a k&n in my car.
I clean and re-oil it every 5k miles, when I change the oil.
I have never had a cell or a problem with it.
Its the best way to go for performance untiul you go B.A.T., then you'll need even more air flow.
DOOOOOOOOO IT!

Hey whoever is saying that K&N doesnt change anything its the same as a regular filter is abselutley wrong, because i read someone posted that they say that theytested it and came up with same result. but it deffenatly gives u a better pickup and feels like it has more acceleration as you step on it.
can anyone explain this to me please im kinda confused now about this filter. so when they talk about the MAF problems and all negative facts, are they all refering to after cleaning the filter and putting it back on and stuff or just as it is when you take it out of the box and install it i'll eventually give u same problems? does it come with a little bit of oil in it already or whats the deal with that? and also some people were sayin that since the filter holes are bigger stuff gets in ur engine and makes it dirty. any comments on these ?
Im still deciding weather or not to go with the K&N or not i bought a regular filter the day after i heard all this stuff and now i have the regular on it.
Thanks
