Default K04 and 5 bar fuel pressure regulator?

After blowing my turbo I decdided the way to go was a K04 with the APR k04 turbo program from my local APR dealer. After talking to a few people I have heard that things to get to enhance the effect of the K04 are exhaust and a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator. Since I do not have nearly enough money to afford the exhaust yet, I am thinking that the fuel pressure regulator is the way to go. My question is has anyone else ever heard that these fuel pressure regulators work well with the k04? Also, is the fuel pressure regulator located anywhere close to the turbo, as I am hoping to keep labor costs down with the installation of the turbo. Thanks for the help.

Joe

hmm, first of all, apr doesnt offer ko4 software. And u dont need a exhaust to run a ko4, u will just have lag.

i cant seem to find it right now but there is a DIY mod to your factory 4 bar. regulator to make it a 5 bar.

involves cruching or punching in the top.

search audiworld for the info

The FPR is on the fuel rail. Neuspeed's 5 bar regulator is about $60. I have ordered one for my K04 setup but it isn't hear yet. Neuspeed's guys said it should work fine in my 01.5' A4 and they (Neuspeed) have already tested it on 97-99.5 models.

So would you say that the fuel pressure regulator was worth it? If its that easy to install I might just wait til I get the car and see how it runs without the FPR. Also APR DOES make a chip for the K04 as the mechanic at APR explained to me. Its only an extra 200 since I already have another program so I will probably go with that too.

What is the stock FP of the car. Figure how much boost you want to some day run, add that amount of boost pressure to the stock fuel pressure and see if you will max out the stock FPR. 4 bar is about 58psi.

k04-475 shipped (barley used)
giac pc 16 file -600
nuespeed 5 bar- 80
used tantrumworks hiflow cat-190 shipped
greddy front mount(brand new) 500 shipped on ebay
ecs n75- 40 used

i dont have a catback yet and that is at least another 600. u dont need the front mount, ecs n75 or the hiflow cat to run the k04 . so i guess for the k04 upgrade it cost me bout 1300.
