try pulling the passenger wheel and the axle's heat shield, thats held on with 3 5mm? allen key bolts. This well help you to get to some cat bolts. Also if that doesnt work, sometime I disconnect the exhaust under the middle of the car and pull the cat higher into the engine bay so that its possible to reach in through the engine bay and loosen the bolts. Dont forget to soak those sucker in PB blaster before even attempting to unbolt they because they will snap easily. Good luck!

Oh yea, just remembter the stock cat has the bolts welded on to the car flange so you can only unscrew the nuts which are on the backside of the bolt (the downpipe side)

I think I heard about someone last year who found a way by dropping the engine a bit. Don't know how it was done or who it was, but I think it was an AW member.

Yeah, the ko4 install was fairly tricky the first, then i ripped it out and did it again and was alot easiear, if i can give ya any adive, dont even attempt to take the oil return line off the turbo, take it off from the oil pan and and have a buddy help ya yank it up through.

Whenever i fit my cat replacment pipe i undo the bolts that connect the cat to the turbo and then undo the down pipe to the middle section bolts.

Then i twist the bugger round and slide it out the bottom of the car.

I removed the cover plates on the drivers side (passangers side in America) axle covering the shafts.

Is quite awkward but should come out the bottom of the car.

This then means that you can get the bolts off that connect the downpipe to the cat and means you can get them nice and tight when fitting the downpipe to the cat replacement.

When refitting the cat-replacement and downpipe i tighted the bolts to the turbo first because i find this a better way of holding the pipes in place. Then i fit the middle section to downpipe sleave again. Jobs a good un.

Hope this helps a little.

ok man deff listen to audiboys advice its very wise to do this. also with the cat just unbolt the slip joint of the downpipe under the car and pull the whole thing out. there is also a spring bolt which is a total of 3 bolts on the slip joint area...trust me it will come out i do it all the time when removing mine. just give a very nice tug just twist it and pull it will eventually un snag from all the heat shielding....good luck. also be carefull puttin the bolts back in the drain pan as they will strip easily bc it is aluminium not steel.
