okayyy...ive been looking into the k04, but im getting confused. there are like a bajillion (by bajillion i mean 5 or 6) different files from GIAC. some are mroe agressive, some you need new injectrors, some mroe power, some less...the list goes on

basically, with a 2001 1.8t, whats the most agressive file i can get? do i nees new FPR, injectors...the works?

and if anyonw here knows when APR is comming out with a B5 k04 tune, i will personally give you a back rub. i really dont wanna leave APR (basically tis cheeper to stay) but its looking like my only option.

yes, new injectors, fpr, exhaust, intake, fmic etc...

apr offers a basic k04 file.. but no agressive files

 

nope, APR does not offer any k04 tuning for the b5. only for the b6 and b7

 

and also, whats the difference between teh j312 and the hammer?

 

I can also vouch for APR not offering a K04 file. I emailed them about it and they flat out said that if I was to go with a K04, I'd have to try a different software company. I would think that they've got to be working on a program for K04 guys though, because they're going to lose a bit of business if they don't.

 

ya, i talked to them oct-nov ish last year and the guy wouldnt give me any details but he hinted that maby at the end of this summer we will hear the release date. most likley meaning it wont be out till last 07 or early 08

 

cool. good to know, because I'll probably be going APR for my chip. they're closer, and the customer service is better than the local GIAC dealer.

 

There arent more than 2 GIACk04files for each engine code, a regular file, or an agressive file
AEB engine code is either regular k04 file or PC16
ATW engine code is either regular k04 file or J31
AWM engine code is either regular k04 file or Hammer

 

hey onepoint8.....what is the difference between the k04 file chip and the hammer, J31 file??? I had a k04 file from giac on a 98 and now have a 2001. Im gettin it reprogramed with my k04 but never heard of those other two files you mentioned

 

hammer is the name of the agressive k04 file for 01
J31 is the name of the agressive k04 file for 00
PC16 is the name of the agressive k04 file for 97-99.5

J31 is supposed to be the most agressive of the 3, then PC 16, then Hammer.

The regular k04 file has about 235 hp and 265 tq, while the agressive files have roughly 10-20 more hp and 30-40 more tq...........Something like that... Im not really an expert.
