Default k04 upgrade without new exhaust?

I got a giac chip upgrade, and new DV. Going to get a tip chip next week. Next on the list I was thinking of getting a K04. If I got a K04, would I have to replace the stock exhaust along with it? I would like to just get the K04 for now, and get a new exhaust later. Is this possible?

Btw, I have the tiptronic transmission.

Looks like I dont need it, found a link here :

I'm sure you could do it, but performance without better breathing exhaust will be lacking compared to with larger exhaust. Maybe do exhaust first, and then do K04 when you have the money.

Ok, thanks. I was looking to get a fairly quiet exhaust - Borla is good but pretty loud? I was reading that APR is the quietest, but that would mean getting an APR chip, which I dont want to do.

Why would you have to get an APR chip. Why would you not be able to use APR exhaust w/ GIAC software?

I beleive he means that the apr is a smoother power curve so your noise level with the exhaust would be less with the apr chip. But it doesn't matter, you can use any exhaust you want. It just depends how deep and throaty you want it.

Ah ok, didnt know I could use the apr exhaust with the giac chip. I thought they had to be the same. Thanks for the info. I would like it deep and throaty without being too loud.

Make sure whichever chip you get will let you get it re-programmed for the K04 at no cost...
