Keyless entry problem...
Hi.
So I've got a problem. I threw my keys to someone today, totally trusting her hand-eye coordination. She missed the catch, and they proceeded to hit the ground and my fob came apart, sending the batteries and two pieces in all directions. I got everything and reassembled it. Upon reassembly I noticed there was no piece to go from the positive side of the batteries to the circuit. I reasoned it should touch the small copper patch, but my multimeter said that wasn't a closed loop. Anyway, I'm going to take a pic of what I've got (including my ghetto-fab rig). If anyone has any insight as to what I should do, please let me know... By the way, my car is a 97 A4, so I've got the three button thingmajigger separate from my key. And I'm a college student with no money thus I can't afford a new one. But I would still like my remote working to impress aforementioned uncoordinated lady... Thanks guys, George |
RE: Keyless entry problem...
try putting the batterys in the other way

RE: Keyless entry problem...
I've tried both ways. It clearly says to have the positive pointing down. Anyway, I attached my picture. The silver piece in the middle of the circuit board is one terminal and I made the wire piece so that it would touch the gold piece. After trying it (and trying to reprogram it, like manual says must be done after a battery swap), it didn't work, so I took the multimeter to it (it showed that from the silver piece to the gold piece wasn't a closed circuit). Basically I'm wondering if anyone knows where its supposed to connect or what the other piece looks like so I know whether the blow damaged the circuitry.

Ehh... I'm in a place with no Audi dealership right now. Would a VW dealership do it?

Another ghetto fab way is to use foil paper to close the loop lol

If i knew where it was supposed to connect I would try it. The batteries aren't dead, and I hooked up the circuit board to the batteries outside of the casing with the positive lead going to the copper section, and it still didn't work. I've been combing Ebay... There are only a couple of the ones I have, but they are about $50, if not more. There is one for cheaper, but it still has a few days. Contemplating getting the integrated key... It's actually cheaper. I just need to check the IDs...
