Hi, I’m a new owner of a 96 a4 quattro. I brought it pretty cheap from an auction and it has these problems. This was a big mistake, and I feel so stupid right now(so please don’t comment on how stupid I am), but may someone please help me with advises to fix up my car.

I don’t have the keys to the car, and I’m currently using a screwdriver to start up the car. What is the cheapest way to go about getting new keys? I talked to a locksmith and he is only able to make me a new key from the key cylinder if it is NOT the key with the side groves. Does your 96 key have the side groves, or is it a regular key? I know I can also order the regular keys using the VIN number from the Audi dealer.

 

ha...can you open the doors with a screw driver? if so then your all set. whats it cost to order new keys?

 

I just keep my doors unlock. The cost that i got from the dealership was $168.

 

if you'[re sticking a screwdriver into your ignition, then you're going to have to replace more than just the keys. you'll need a new ignition, and if you want matching locks you'll need to replace the cores on all the doors and the trunk....i have a 96 and it has a regular style key
