what you are talking about is you are hitting the kickdown switch. When you completely floor it in a 2nd-5th, it automaticaly drops a gear, you can feel it in your foot, its a button that the gas pedal hits when fully depressed. You can sort of feel the pedal stop when you make contact with the button (which is actually WOT) and when you press it down further, you can feel it hitting the button, and all that does is reduce you by 1 gear. You can disable the kickdown feature for when you are in tip mode with vag com.. I did it cuz it got sort of annoying... If i want to downshift in tip mode, ill do it myself ya know?

I had tip on my passat and I blew the tranny, had the APR chip with three programs, borla cat back, custom downpipe/test pipe, evo DV, but the car was just FWD thats why I switched the tranny was trash and all the car did was burn out, was imposible to drive in the rain, though i must say i liked the intieror in the vw alot more then my audi but my audi is much faster with the ko4, i also had the tip chip, mad a big difference but there is a threshhold for those tranny's cant take as much power as the manual can
