lack of boost...

Default lack of boost...

my 98 audi a4 has been loosing boost lately.the turbo had 90k miles on it.i have boost guage and sometimes the car is running 8 pounds like its supose to,but most of hte time im only getting 4 or 5 pounds of boost.its really starting to **** me off because you can really notice the lack of boost.the car is all stock except for and intake. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you seeing the dead spots of boost when you drive. Stock is between 6-8psi unless you have a boost leak which is probably the case.

yeah leak is likely. Check your diverter valve as well.

ive checked the hoses..but only by eye and didnt see any cracks or anything unusual. What would be the problem with the diverter valve?

you can test it but its probably not worth it, just go get a 710n and you should be good.... but if you do wana test it you need a vac pump thing and you just put it on there where the vac line goes and look inside the dv see if the plunger thing moves and holds suction

no one even said there was a way to test it.. There is a way, but the time it would take to build a tester for it is not worth it. If its the original DV, just replace it with a $35 710N to be safe. If it is original I wouldnt doubt that that is the problem, they are weak, like your ability to take sarcasm.
