Default Latest approved oil listing

Newest release from Audi-
http://www.audiusa.com/etc/medialib/....0004.File.pdf

Keep in mind that these are oils that have been tested and meet VW/Audi specs. If an oil is not listed, it either did not meet specs or has not been tested. Brands such as Amsoil and Royal Purple are not listed, but many people believe they are among the best oil companies out there.

What's the deal with Amsoil not listed? I wonder why that is. I get amsoil from the dealership every time, I've heard it's the best synthetic out there. (and it better be, for the price!)

a lot of useless info there but one thing means everything 0W/40-5W-30 ( synthetic ) im not going to say full synthetic due to expense but semi is just as good as long as you change it every 5k

^ EXACTLY

Semi synthwetic will do fine so long as you change it at that interval. Does anyone actually KNOW what Audi/VW's specs entail? If the oil company doesn't give the VW group money are they not listed?

What happens if I live up North and use 5-40 instead of 0-40 when it gets cold?
