so i just installed a manual boost controller, but i kept it at the lowest possible to see what it would be like. of course something had to go wrong, and i was in limp mode. anyone know what the problem could be? and no i dont have a VAG so if anyone knows of a similar story and solution that would be great.

 

How do you know if the car is in limp mode?

 

its only boosting up to 4-5psi (stock psi) instead of 15psi which GIAC chip gave me

 

Have you tried adjusting the MBC?

 

turn the MBC up. wait! have you run the MBC in line with the N75 or eliminated the N75 altogether?

I thought are cars would go straight to limp with the MBC and no N75?

Why did you put in a mbc anyway??

 

limp mode is the most horrible mode ever. i had it once and i hope i never have it again!
the car has no power whatsoever. its the most gradual acceleration ever!

The reason im asking for the yr is becuase a MBC can put you into limp mode very easily if you have 2000yr+ and your actual boost is much different from what your requested boost is from the ecu. Stupid boost sensor in the IC. If you have 2000+ you were probably running really rich from the lack of boost and it put you in limp mode. No matter what year you are, and dont have the n75 pluged in (electrically) then that would cause limp mode like smokeu said..

 

Good point. If the N75 isn't at least connected electrically you will go straight to limp mode.

 

its a 99 a4qtm and i plugged the MBC into the wastegate and pressure regulator. the n75 is plugged in electronically and has a hose into the intake, the other two nipples are being recirculated with a hose connecting the two...am i missing anything here?
