Default List of recommended hours per job?

Is there a list posted somewhere for the recommended hours that mechanics use to approximate labor costs? Thanks..

Don't mechanics have a special book which lists all possible specific jobs/fixes for a given vehicle with recommended 'hours to complete' said job?

I think it would be a handy resource to have so you could compare a mechanic's quote for "hours of labor" with the recommended "hours" list that might be publicly available.

what/which job/s are you asking about in particular?

between the DIYers and the techs on the site we could give you an approximation for any job

Ok, thanks.
1. Axle assembly replacement - driver's
2. Valve gasket replacement
3. Camshaft position sensor - (result of CEL fault code)

I think I could just do the 3rd one myself. It's pretty much plug n play with 2 bolts, correct?

What your refering to is called a Flat Rate manual. They mostly use all data to find the hours alotted now. I think if you buy a years subscription on the web to all data you will get that list along with everything else. I have seen All Data disks for sale on ebay but I'm not sure if the time charts are included in them or not.

Good Luck...

it used to be a book but now its usually a computer program, you just type in all your info and it will give you the flat rate of the job. you can call any mechanic or dealer and ask them what's the flat rate on the job and they can just look it up for you, or you can pay for the software yourself
