looking at buying an A4 3.0 (need Help!)
I am looking at a couple of 02 A4 3.0 V6 Quattros and wondering if any of you could give me the low down on them. I have never owned an Audi and really like them. I am if any of you have one of these models and have any words of wisdom or comments. Also is there anything in particular that I should look for when looking the cars over. I would appreciate any help or guidance you can provide. Thanks.

I own one, and I sell them. The 3.0 is a solid engine. Dependent on mileage, make sure the timing belt has been replaced. I think in '02 the interval was around 90k, but in '04 it was reduced to 75k. That's really the biggest thing. Service records indicating regular oil and fluid changes would also be good. An Audi isn't a Honda. If you want it to be reliable and run for a very long period of time, you have to maintain it. Of the body, what isn't aluminum is galvanized, so rust won't be an issue.
I say, if all checks out, go for it. You won't regret it.

I have a '03 3.0 6 speed. I really like it. Had a few issues with it, but so far pretty good. Power is reasonable. I have had a number of more powerful cars so this is a bit of a step down in performance but it is definitely more peppy than a 1.8T in my opinion. I think the quattro sucks alot of the power out of it. If everything checks out I would say go for it as well.
I own a 6sp Q 02 3.0 , car is deff very nice its not ment to be a 350Z would be nice if it had more power but it doesnt your paying for luxory and u get it in droves car handle like a peach and Q dominates the snow but it love it and mod it
i am in the same boat you are man haha ive never owned an audi but my buddy swears by his and its nothing special its like a early 90's audi90 quattro or somthing like that, i have the same questions as you, like when to expect the timing belt and water pump to be changed, how pricey these things are and can they be done in my garage with regular tools blah blah but keep searchin around on these forums there are alot of smart well rounded people on these forums that dont put people down when ever they get a chance its a good site!! any question you have can be answered here... good luck and keep doin your homework and search for the best deal
