Default Looking at getting into an A4

Hey guys,
I recently posted this up in teh new members section but didn't get much in terms of people viewing it, so I'd figure I'd come right to the source.

I joining the forum to find out abit about the next car on my list. I am a Mustang guy deep down but I think it is time for me to go to a nicer daily driver. I currently own 3 Mustangs; a 67 coupe that is my hobby/fun car, a 68 coupe that is a project and an 01 GT that is my daily driver. I am planning on getting rid of both the 68 and the 01 and moving into something more practical for a daily driver by the end of the year. Performance is always important to me because I am the type that enjoys to drive my cars. I hope to learn from you guys as I am strongly considering an 03/04 A4 1.8T (03/04 only because I would refer something certified from Audi) . I have done some reading and have had plenty of my questions answered by the A4 noob thread in the A4 section. Great write up by onepoint8tee. I look to learn a bit more before making my decision so here goes.
1. What do the typical bolt ons get the A4 power range? CAI, exhaust, chip, DIY FMIC etc... Since it is a daily that I would prefer to improve on mileage over the v8 i have now, but I would still need a little get up and go. I wouldn't be interested in any BT upgrades but do see myself doing typical bolt ons.
2. What is the mileage like on these stock vs. modded?
3. Any idea what insurance would be for a 30 year old in so cal with a spotless record?
4. I've read plenty of threads so far saying what kind of hp numbers people see with updgrades. In the Mustang world we typically refer to wheel horsepower on the dynos. I am assuming that the numbers here are crank hp. Does anyone get custom tuning done to their Audi's or are the chips from APR, GIAC, etc... pretty reliable in terms of AF ratios and what not?
Thanks for your time guys and I look foward to learning more about these cars.
