malfuntion indicator lamp. can someone please help me with this?
i really dont know anything about cars so i thought maybe someone will be able to help me.
i dont know if anyone has had this problem with their a4 but my MIL came on and my car started shaking. it shakes when im stopped and when i try to speed up. it stops shaking when im driving at a constant speed or when im driving it in the sports shift mode. can anyone tell me what is wrong with my car or if they had the same problem? and if i have to take it to an audi dealership to get it fixed cause the closest one to where is live is about an hour away?

You will have to get the codes read. If the MIL is on but not flashing you can drive the car without significant problem. If you are in the US, Autozone will read the codes for free. Get the number and post it here for help
i went to autozone and they said its a cylinder 1 and 4 misfire and it could be something with my coils.
my friend suggested that i go get a tune up for my engine not for the whole car.
what should i do and how much is this gonna cost me?
and also the MIL is flashing now is that good or bad? and should i be driving my car?

It helps if you list what yr/engine you have when asking questions. Im guessing you have a 1.8t. Swap the #1 and#4 coil packs with #2 and #3 coil packs and see if the fault code/misfires follow. If they do, replace the coil packs. If they dont, replace your plugs. If that doesnt work, and you are 97-99.5 yr, its probably a bad ICM.(ignition control module-it sits right on top of the airbox.)
i have a 2003 a4 v6 3.0. ive been looking around online and there has been a recall on the ignition coils for 2001, 2002, early production 2003 a4s. so hopefully when i bring it to audi for a diagnostic test thats what the problem is.
Mnguyen,
It could be your ignition coils...but it sounds to me like maybe a bad suction valve. Since you claim to not know anything about cars, this is a fairly easy repair for antechie and should cost you about 300 bucks. If your MIL is flashing, just drive it to the nearest major dealership.

I am also having some problems and wondering if someone has some advice for me. MIL light is on and I had the codes read, here's what I got~
P1136 Long Term Fuel Trim Add. Fuel, Bank 1 System too lean
P441 EVAP Emission control system, Incorect Purge Flow
This is for my 1998 A4 Quattro. Since these cars are expensive to fix I want to troubleshoot the problem and see what I can do before going to the mechanic, being female and also having no knowledge about cars, I sometimes feel as though I am being taken for a ride!

1. P1136 - Either a bad/dirty MAF or a vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum hoses first
2. P0441 Faulty EVAP emissions valve.
1. Check for any vacuum leaks.
2. The EVAP is behind the air filter box and has electrical connections and several vacuum hoses coming out of it.
Check the round valve behind the airbox, It often rubs on a clip and that opens up the vacuum system so the EVAP valve doesn't work.
The evap valve sometimes gets stuck due to charcoal dust from the charcoal canister. Give it some moderate raps with the handle of a screw driver while the engine is running.
Replacing the evap valve costs 50 dollars for the part and is a 10 minute DIY.
