Forgive me if I sound rude, for that is not the purpose of this reply. If your son is graduating college, then yes, perhaps an Audi is for him! He worked hard, will probably go find a good job, and he might actually be able to afford to drive a car like this. If your son is graduating high school, I would say go for the Honda. As others have said, you just can't compare an Audi with a Honda....made by two totally different companies/countries and are basic opposites. In order to truly appreciate what an Audi has to offer, you need to experience a lesser vehicle. I see too many young kids on the road driving luxury cars that don't appreciate them, drive them horribly, and don't worry about the ramifications of their actions.
Personally, I believe you need to work for what you have in this world and not rely on your parents to wipe your backside forever-
But hey, maybe I'm wrong.....You know, you could go get a brand new Honda for what you are going to pay for an Audi with 70,000 miles on it. Heck, why not just go buy him a brand new Audi??

I do have a friend though who's dad is a specialist and he bought her an '07 BMW 325 XI. Makes me sick........[:'(]
EDIT: My parents don't pay a thing for me............including college. I have to pay back 45,000 dollars for a private college that I attended and graduated from with an associates degree in Computer science majoring in Graphic Design and I know more about my major than most kids that attended an average every day college and have a four year degree in Graphic Design. Basically what they learned in four years I learned in two cause I didn't have to deal with pointless entrance classes and pointless classes in general that are just thrown into the program to make you have to sweat it out to get your degree.

Ok heres the deal. I have a 1998 Audi A4 1.8TQuattro with 110k miles on it. I have needed a reliable car. I have had my audi for 1 year now. I have not had any problems thus far. I make sure oil changes are done on time and maintance is always kept up to date. As far as safety of the car I am not sure on. But as far as reliability goes it it a great car!!!

It depends where you go for the oil change. I have gone to a place that charged me $60 for one and now I go to a place that charges me only $20. It does take synthetic oil. But well worth it for the nice drive you get from the car.

So you don't take it to the actual dealership you just take it to where ever? I have taken my cars to valvoline and such in the past and paid 60.00 dollars like you say but then I take them to the dealer instead and they may charge anywhere from 20 - 30 so I was planning to take mine to the Audi dealer where I bought mine for it's servicing but I wasn't sure if maybe they'd charge an arm and a leg for it cause there certified Audi mechanics or what have you.

Here's a thought regarding safety and speed of the 1.8 versus the 6 cylinder: The 1.8t is extremely easily upgraded to MUCH higher horsepower and torque specs with just a simple (and invisible) engine software upgrade (called a chip). These days there is no hardware 'chip' involved. Because it's a turbo, the 'chip' is particularly transformative in that it raises turbo boost levels amongst other engine parameters. So, the 4 cylinder can be easily modified to be faster and sportier than the 6 cylinder.

I'm really glad that I bought a CPO Audi.... I bought an 04' 1.8t ultra sport with 33k in Jan 07' well just four days ago (40k) I heard a rattling noise in first gear, so I called Stevens Creek Audi and they got me in the next day. Two days later I had my car back and they changed the gear box which I think is around 5k....also I had gotten a flat tire a week earlier and I did not have a car jack so I called the sales manager and he said that he would put a jack in the car for me not only did he put the jack in the car he also replaced the shredded tire....not sure if it was under warranty or not but I have nothing but goods things to say about CPO and the service.
