Default Is the mechanic full of ...

So the last owner of my Audi did a cracked-out home made wiring conversion for HID's and I took my car into a local shop last week to have them straighten it out. First they tell me they need a new combination switch, which seems silly because I know there was power before, but then he says he's not sure how he's going to be able to wire the HID's back up. Can't he just take power, run it to each balast, and then go straight to the bulb? I've got two ballasts and just bought new bulbs that are compatible but could there be other connectivity issues? I just want to know what I'm dealing with because the mechanic doesn't seem to be real up front.

Thanks

Yes most HID ballasts have 1 positive and 1 negative going in. And 1 positive and negative going out for the bulb. Simple as that. Why not do the job yourself and save some money?
