If i was to make around 300-340whp on my 1997 Audi A4 1.8T quattro , Do you guys think the cheap Megasquirt 2 ECU could make me acheive this with all supporting hardware (turbo, injectors , etc etc)??? Or should i go for something more proven like a EMS or Motec ro something???

 

I would go with Unitronic or CTAPP sw for a bt setup on the B5.

 

there is a guy on audizine running a holset hx35 turbo, and running megasquirt, iirc he is still in the begining stages of tuning the car with it,

but for your goal, its probably obtainable with a simple bolt on turbo kit, and off the shelf tune

 

100% agree. Only time it would be worth it is if you dont have any other options or want to make big power with a much bigger turbo. In that case, a standalone ems is well worth the investmentand time to install and tune it.

 

mega squirt isn't like normal standalones. it's not cheap because it's crap it's cheap because you build the standalone yourself. even down to soldering on some of the componnents on the board. if this is your daily driver and you've got no experience in this before i wouldn't advise you go with mega squirt. It's an amazing stand alone but you have to know what your doing. could take you 6 months or more to get that thing running. If your still looking into it go surf around the megasquirt forums and you'll see what i'm talking about

So megasquirt is not a bad stand alone and i will do some seaching to see if there is a off the shelf kit to give me the power i want.
