Default Misfire Help !

2 days ago i was driving my car home from work on a really hot day and then on the highway it randomly started shaking and cel flashing. i pulled over and it was shaking really bad at idle so i turned the car off. After about 10 mins i tried to drive it and the shaking went away but a big loss of power. i scanned the cel and it said cylinder c misfire and something about cam sensor then i cleared the code and hasent popped up since. I have been driving long distances and the car feels fine except there's still a big loss of power. Someone please tell me the problem, im thinking it was a bad coil ? oh and i just changed the spark plugs yesterday

..... your cam sensor is a big deal. your ecm will not throw a check engine light about it till you unplug your negative terminal... you should check all coils first but if it was my guess i would say it is your cam position sensor. would be a good idea to have a mechanic look at that if your not sure

bad coil start cheap man, those coils have a short life any how get it out of the way then move to your cam sensor if the problem persists.

check rockauto.com and amazon for cheap ignition coils got a full coild pack off amazon for $75.

Before going out and spending money on coils, what year is your car? I had this same issue. I changed my spark plugs, drove it that night all was good. the next day half way to work the car just started shaking like crazy. i played with the spark plugs some more but still no help and i was about to go buy all 4 coils sense i knew it was best to do them when i did the spark plugs. turns out their was a recall on coils. I think it started in the 01 models though. look it up of your 01 or newer.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Same deal but mine would operate differently depending on the temperature outside. The scanner never threw a cam shaft position sensor code but there were random misfire codes and once it threw a left bank o2 sensor.
It was at 100k miles so I replaced the plugs and coils my self about $200 and not too much trouble. This solved the problem of the codes but my engine is still running a bit rough. It turns out that there was a problem with the fly wheel and clutch. I am replacing the clutch now and the mechanic said that there were motor mounts out. So I am assuming that when the engine was misfiring that ruined the already tired motor mounts. My logic was replace the plugs and coils because it had to be done anyways and hopefully this would help the cam shaft pos. sensor too?
