what mods can I do to a 98 a4 w/ the 2.8l v6 w/o spending an obscene amount of money (i wanna be quick...but not spend over $1000-1200). How high could I expect to achieve. I believe the V6 is 190hp stock.

 

thadman, what u need to do is save ur cash for a s/c. Your car will be fast and extremely reliable.

 

But $5k is well over $1200.

Edit: Do exhaust, and intake that will put you under your limit.

Yes. If you are planning on doing alot of mods. 100% the 1.8T.
You could crank out more power out'a the turbo then the 2.8 with ease.

 

pffft, id trade my ko4/2.8s trans 1.8t anyday for a s.c 2.8. No doubt.

 

ya i got a V6 99 a4, not to many mods on the market for us. Ummm wheels, chip, exhuast, body kit....etc

 

w/o an sc youre only looking at a max 20-25 hp increase with exhaust and intake(if u feel like burning through MAFs), or u can spend the money on some wheels or a bodykit. do some suspension upgrades. on the other hand an sc sure would kick ***.
