Newbie seeking advice !!!
hello all !
I have just put a deposit down on a 1996 audi a4 1.8 se at a local dealers and am picking it up at the weekend, however the clutch needs to be up high to find the "biting" point, ive been told that this is a sign that the clutch is on the way out, can someone confirm or help on this please, the dealer said he will look at it and replace if it needs, but somehow i dont trust him !!!
thanks in advance
Jay

RE: Newbie seeking advice !!!
hello
thanks for your reply, I am in the UK im not sure if you are?, the 1.8 and 1.6 were available here from 95 onwards !!
ive insured it and here they need full reg details, and the Government driving and vehicle licence authority (DVLA) know its a 1.8, so im pretty confident it is what he says it is !!
do you know about the clutch problem???
thanks again

RE: Newbie seeking advice !!!
I have a 2001 1.8, and my clutch seems to catch very high compared to my friends TT that I drove. Thats the only other manual car I have driven since getting mine that I remember enough to compare to.

my stang had a mile to push the clutch also but it was the stiffest clutch me or any of my friends ever felt and the engage point was right at the top, so u could just kick it and u were in gear and gone. as for audi, i dunno i rock tiptronic.

mine catches pretty much right at the tip also... I like it cuz I can shift faster than if the engage point was all the way at the bottom...
yea, UK is different from US regarding 1.8s in '96 and so on..... congrats on getting an audi.
