Default My GPS was stolen!

So I get into the car, noticed a couple interior lights were turned on and my glovebox is open...weird. Then I notice my two passenger-side doors are closed, but slightly ajar. Hmmm. Then I notice that the freakin dash-mount for my GPS is gone, and the center console where I keep the GPS itself is gone too.

Mother....Effer....

Obviously I'm in a whole world of pissed off and feeling despondent that mycar has been violated. The car wasparked in the garage behind the house I live in (but no doors onany of the garage bays, sosemi-visible from the sidewalk. Until this afternoon, I hadn't driven it since friday night, so who knows when it was actually jacked.

Here's the question. No glass was broken. I'm not seeing any obvious signs of jimmying the doors open. Am I a dumbass and leave my car unlocked, or are Audi's really THAT easy to break into? I always automatically lock my car...did I just not press the button? If this was caused by my own stupidity, I'll be extra pissed....

Note: Please do not post information that would aide potential car thiefs in this thread.PM me if you think there's something specific that I should know about. I'm just looking for a general consensus on the security of Audi's, perhaps some security suggestions....some nasty comments about theifs rotting in hell couldn't hurt either [sm=violin.gif]

i think you probably left it unlocked

there is a way to use vag to make your alarm more sensitive.. if you really doubt that you left it unlocked

Did you leave the arm on the dash? People will see the arm hanging onto the dash or off the windshield and assume (usually correctly) that the GPS itself is somewhere in the car... That is why I take mine off and put it in the house when I am done, or cover it with a hoodie in my back seat...

Rochester NY, southwedge.

yeah, i left the arm on the dash. I'm usually more parnoid about that stuff, but for some reason I was never really worried about getting it stolen out of my backyard. Of course, in retrospect, I should have been.

Freakin idiot that I am...my remote is finikey.... but maybe I just didn't hit the button. Damnation.

also if your lights were still on i would assume that it happened the night before

your battery would have been dead if it happened longer

^+1 Shlt that sux! sorry to hear it...I just wanted to say that when I don't lock my car, it usually locks itself (I don't know about other a4's but mine always does this)...besides that I dont think it is all that easy to break into the car without breaking something...Look on the brightside, at least that's all they took...Imagine what a dealer would charge you for a seat or a heater control....and besides that the as5hole who took it is gonna have a piano dropped on him this time tomorrow...
