I think you just killed it. You need electronic or maf cleaner. The stuff you used just left residue on the maf element and may of ruined it.

like i said 0171 is known to be a faulty maf..... and as cincy said you probably killed it with carb cleaner..... pick up a new one or use someone else and get the code cleared and see if that fixes it

also do you have or did you recently put in a k&n?

that might have killed it too

If the car is stubling, if you undo that maf, it should run much better if it is the maf.

why would carb and choke cleaner ruin it? Never heard that before. I was told by many ASEcertifiedtechs that, that would be fine on it and thats what theyuse to clean them on even those cars.I will buy electronic cleaner and spray it. Yes, I have a k+n intake filter on it. I could try and remove the diode if thats what it may be. How would I really know at 16 psi I'm not running to lean then? Oh, I guess the check engine light would still come on then, lol.

why would a k+n kill it anyways? That's a new one on me also. If that's so bad what do you guys recommend?

As long as you have a map, its a good way to test for a bad maf or leak between the maf and turbo.

The carb cleaner leaves a film on the maf. Its basically like putting a condom on the maf so to speak. The techs you talked to need to be punched in the face.

The filter most likely has 0 to do with your issue. The reason people have problems i because the oil goes through the filter and gets on the maf, again blocking airflow and making it useless. Its a rare problem but does occur. People use them because they flow so well, but the risk is always there

I know 16psi doesnt run you lean because people run more than that daily and for a long *** time.
