i have a 99 a4 1.8t quattro and it runs great up until a few days ago. It lost a lot of power and i dont know why. No codes/cel or anything else. It fells like im not getting any boost but the guys i get to work on my car says im getting 7lbs. I have a chip so i should be getting more..... they replaced the purge valve because it was bad from moisture but it didnt do any good. Was wondering if any has had this problem before and can help out.....it makes a sound like ive got a boost leak or something is grinding(i cant tell). Although it dosnt do it when im reeving the engine, just when im on the highway. thanks for the help guys

 

u might be in limp mode

 

Re-check the boost, borrow a VAGcom and do some logging. Could be anything. from a bad diverter valve, 87 octane gas, plugged fuel filter, vacuum leak.

Grinding however is not good....if you are getting a sound like a dentists drill, you can start saving for a K04 upgrade now.

 

would a vagcom tell me what is wrong? is it just like a scanner? how would i get out of limp mode if that is the case because like i said there are no codes if that matters

 

If there is something that wrong with your car that it is in limp mode, there should be some codes to be seen.

What kind of chip do you have?

 

I wasen't in limp mode last nite just ask the girl in townhouse 9!! lol i had to say that! (true story tho!)

 

good one pj......david, its a chip from speed tuning usa, there in illinois.....I sent my computer off to get it done.....why, do you think it is the chip that is doing and if so can i put the stock stuff back on since it was a flash program
