i have an audi a4 1.8t (2002) and i have the opportunity toget an audi 3.0 v6. the 3.0 has 30k less miles and is in excellent condition, but i really like the turbo engine in the 1.8. what is the difference and which one has a better track record? also, when does the turbo tend to go on these cars? - justin

 

my turbo is still going strong at 115k. if your looking for reliability, the 3.0 would be a little bit better. but if you want to mod your car, then keep the 1.8t

 

It depends on what you want to do with it. If you want a good DD that you can do some cosmetic mods on then the V6 would probably suit you just fine. If you want Power and the ability to mod the engine, then the 1.8t will do you better then the V6, because your only option for Audi V6' s really to Supercharge it and it can get expensive.

I was hit with this same problem when I was originally purchasing my Audi. I drove both and liked both, but ultimately decided that the 1.8T was more a sports oriented car while the 3.0 was more a luxury oriented car. I currently have 62k miles on my 1.8T (04') and no issues at all. Great Car. Nothing like a turbo!
