Last month I bought my first Audi, an A4. When I picked it up from the dealership the car's engine was a bit loud but the dealership is right off the higwway and with all th noise in the background I really couldnt tell how loud it was until I got it home. I remember the sales person telling me that I can put 87 octane in the car if I wanted even though Audi recomended 91 but I would suffer on performance. Anyway, so I thought this dealership put 87 in the car and maybe thats why it was loud. In my next fill up I opted for 91. The noise is still there. Its a very very noisy car. The acceleration is not smooth...it sounds like a lawn mower. Actually, it sounds more like a diesel truck. Is this normal with A4's? I have 1200 miles onit already cause I love the way it handles but I'm thinking something is really wrong with this engine. I work almost everyday and have not had a chance to get back to the dealership to see what another A4 sounds like. Any ideas?

yea something is deffinatly not right man take it back there is a reason they have warrentys make it the dealers problem

 

Take it back. The car should be absolutely quiet.

 

Take that lemon back dood! The A4 is quiet and acceleration should be smooth as butter.

totally agree these cars are super quiet when new so sounds like you have a bad engine ( personally I would make them change the car ) this sounds like the beginning of a bad ride

 

audis are pretty much the smoothest cars money can buy.

 

I have an 06 A4 that seems to be very loud also. To me it has a loud growling sound that seems to be either the motor or exhaust in the front half of the car. I had my dealer drive the car and was told that this motor being direct injection sounds simmilar to a diesel. Also there seems to be quita a bit of vibration. The car is running normal according to the dealer. Perhaps after reading this forum I should see another dealer, what do you think?

 

Take it back, Get that fixed man

 

theres something wrong with the car
and that saleman is a retard, its not ok to put 87 in the car

 

Putting 87 octane in it make it run lean and cause detonation.
