Could possibly be loose strut mount?
thats the only thing i think it could be but i know i put the strut mount it right...i was thinking it just might be bad?? i had the clunking before i did all the work so i know its not related to what i did.

does your car have stock suspension?

did you put load on the suspension before torquing everything down?

yeah it does have the stock set up. did everything just like my haynes manual said.

took it in for inspection today and there were no major problems found. just need a new windshield (got a good size crack in mine), 2 new brakes hoses for the front and a rear wheel bearing. not as bad as i thought it might be. i explained to him about the clunking and i told him the front it is basically new. he said not to worry about the slight clunk but his guess was the strut mounts are old (but good enough to pass MD stat inspection).

if you change your own tie rods - be sure to get an alignment afterwards

i really dont think so cause i can clearly hear the wheel bearing (humming) coming from the rear right side. the clunking sounds like its come from the front suspension.

the secret with the pinch bolts is to turn them while hammering them out I discovered!!!
ORIGINAL: jonus079

took me about a day....4 hours of that was just getting the driver side pinch bolt out....what a b*tch and i had airtools. i guess the pinch bolt is hit or miss, it either comes right out to doesnt want to budge.

im almost sure after driving it for a while that it is my tie rod ends. tomarrow ill go ahead and replace them since they came with my kit. the only other thing i think it could be is the strut mount but that doesnt seem to be a problem on these cars. anyone hear of them failing??

I have the same problem with my newly installed arm.. doesnt really sound like a grinding but more like a clunking like you said. I think it might be the new ball joints working their way into the old joints. Im going to re-torque my bolts and see if that helps.
