new guy
hey i just purchased my first audi, previously owning a subaru wrx. I had lots of problems with the car and got sick of how uncomfortable it was- it was far from stock... very far. But anyway, i was posting to find out the no-no's of this car because i wished i had done so for the wrx. That car consisted entirely of trial and error and doing things i should have never done. For example, a BOV and a CAI.- big no-no's for the subie;). And the transmissions in those cars required precision and careful driving habits or they would break like glass. How do the 5speeds in the a4 quattro take the AWD? Regardless, im going to be careful, but are these trannies pretty solid?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the novel.:) |

RE: new guy
Since you brought up the BOV and CAI, on Audi's you can't use BOVs. Well, its not that you can't its just that the ECU isn't setup for them. Audi's use something called diverter valves which divert the air which would be blown off into the atmosphere back into the intake. You can read about it here: https://www.audiforums.com/m_14128/tm.htm

RE: new guy
Yea I think TomRitt's video goes to show that Audi Trannys can take what you throw at them :) BOV is also a big NO No, CAI's it doesnt hurt but isnt going to help, that is unless you get a Carbino (sp?) intake and thats like $300 .... Just go get it chipped and you will love it, GIAC or Apr are the two best. If you tell us a little more about your car im sure we will have more info. And Welcome to the Forum
