Newbie with question.

Hi everyone... new to this forum and Audi's. Just bought a 97 A4 2.8Q with 81K last week. I love this car and it looks like my family does too. Anytime I leave the house without it and come back the A4 is gone!!!

I found something on the AudiWorld forum how to increase my remote locking distance but I can't figure it out. Can anyone tell me how to do this on 97 A4. I have to almost be on top of the car to get the remote locks to work .... and the batteries are new. I removed the rear seat to find the but I don't see anything but a bundle of wires, must be missing something.

Here is a link to the article - Increasing the Remote Unlocking Range by Phil Becker - http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ under the general articles(GA)

Thanks

RE: Newbie with question.

I increased my range (though only moderately) by extending my antenna. However my antenna was not under the seat. It extended from the central locking computer which is in the right side of the trunk, beneath the liner (and a piece of sponge).

Try this technical bulletin. http://www.20vturbo.com/tsb/mirror/audipdf/57-98-02.pdf
Not sure if your antenna is in the same spot tho cuz the bulletin is for a 98.

As brrman said...The Bentley CD shows the control module with the antenna is in the trunk. Here's the info and a diagram.

Central locking/alarm system/interior light delay control module
Located: in luggage compartment, right rear, behind trim

This is for the '97 A4 2.8, too.
