Default no reverse and flakey gear indicator

Hi Folks,

I am new to this forum and am looking for some help here. I have a 2003 A4 1.8T with CVT and a GIAC ECU chip. Recently the gear indicator on the instrument panel disappeared. Sometimes it comes back on normally. Sometimes it comes on with all of the gear choices lit up (PRND). Now the tranny refuses to go in reverse. Forward gears are fine. I read a post about an A8 with a similar problem where the solution was to replace the F125 switch. I think it is a neutral safety switch. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas here? I would like to fix it myself if possible but have never dug into this Audi before. (I spent most of my time working on a 1972 Dodge Charger with a 440!=FUN). Does the A4 have the same switch? Is the repair the same as on the A8?

Thanks for the help!
