Default OBD II codes

okay so i've narrowed my boost issues to boosting hard over about 4000 rpm's,
my car stops boosting and it doesn't return to normal unless I disconnect the battery or clear codes. I've heard the N75 valve is causing this. I've got the race valve on the way today will that fix my problem?

also I'm thinking of buying the Actron 9125 pocket scanner to clear codes with... I guy 5 minutes from me has the VAG com so i can use that but don't want to bother him all the time... is this a wise purchase for $50?

any info is appreciated.. thanks!

dont get OBD, go and bother him.

or

go to autozone and rent OBD II scanner with allow you to scan&clean codes.
(rent the item is free, when you bring the scanner back)

thanks for the advice... I figured it would come in handy... i'd buy the software but i doubt my laptop would handle the software... tis ancient... hahha... that little handheld would come in handy but if its free at autozone i'll just mooch off them... hahah...

the problem is the guy has the software and a sweet laptop but doesn't really know how to use it so I need to learn how to do some stuff or find someone to teach me...

what about the race valve will that solve my loss of boost at 4000 rpm's?

my laptop is like PIII 400 with 196mb of ram. I bought it just for Vag-Com and it works great. Vag-Com works even with PI.

race valve sure helps little maybe 1 or 2 psi but not sure if it fix your problem or not.

do you have a boost gauge ? if not, it is the first mod you need to do. You might have a boost leak or going under limp mode

you cannot really know without a boost gauge.

yeah i want to get one and I've read some DIY installs but i'm not sure if I would be able to figure it out and can't afford the labor to get it installed...

I'm pretty mechanically inclined but it seemed a little complicated...

on a scale from 1-10 what do you think (10 being hardest)?

time?

cost?

preesh!

I will say put fuel in the tank is level 1, so installing a boost gauge whould be level 2.76

cost: you can get whole kit (that includes everything you need) around $85

time: less than 1 hour with no rush

If you are going into limp mode because of spiking or over boosting, the race valve might help because it reduces spiking, but it does also as 1 or 2 psi of consistant boost. If i remember correctly did you just recently get chipped? Id give it some more time to adapt if thats the case.

I dont think its going to adapt, though it may.

Sounds like Limp mode/throttle cut. VAG-COM would tell you for sure.

N75 + chip raises the boost, when the ECU requests X amount amount of boost and you give it Y, and if Y > X , it says screw you your outta here, cuts throttle

throttle cut sounds like it describes whats going on, no cel or anyhting but i can floor the gas and no boost and no pickup at all... So i installed the race chip this afternoon... took twenty minutes... damn clips! haha I hate those things... its a lot smoother now and it was really spiking a lot before around 3 and 4K rpm hopefully it will adapt and not give me any more problems. Right before I ordered the race chip i was soo close to giving up and going right back to stock so hopefully this will work or I will snap.

any ideas to stop the throttle cut if it doesn't work? it does seem like the ecu just isn't recognizing the chip when i overboost and saying screw you... that's funny!

I appreciate the input and will keep you all posted...

boost gauge will be my major mod for next month.. i'm broke... i have a nice/fast car... but i'm broke... till payday!
