Default OEM Turbo Question?

I just bought a 1998 A4 1.8 quatro. The turbo is blown got a good deal on the car otherwise mint pearl white/black leather. I was wondering if a stock turbo from a 1998 passat 1.8 woud fit on my car (I want to feel the stock power before I upgrade).

yes... but if your replacing the turbo you might as well get a k04
and run it on stock tuning to feel stock power... then when you know you want more just upgrade software

you'll get slightly better power with the ko4. but then once you add a chip there will be noticable gains.

Oh its blown bigtime the shaft broke due to a feed line blockage. I went to the guys house to check the car out befor i bought it he had already removed the turbo. There were no pieces missing from the turbo veins but I did a compression check just to be safe and all 4 were good so i bought the car.

As I was reading down I was just going to say get it rebuilt but that last part kinda sounds like you wouldn't want to

Check out G-popshop.com - they offer very good prices and if you want to upgrade to a k04 they change out the stock internals on a k03 for an extra $100 - stock your looking at 150hp - with this turbo and new software - $600 sometime in the future - you can get 235hp
just in case you don't know - K04 is a stock turbo in the Rs4 so it is audi proven and is the exact same external dimentions as a K03
