Oil changes for long commuters
I have a 2008 B7 A4 S2.0T quattro
I commute about 100 miles per day, mostly 55/65 mph drives with a few stop lights. I go pretty moderate on the car (I pass slow drivers a lot). Country highways driving into the city basically. Anyone have a suggestion for oil change intervals for a car that isn't stop & go so much? 7.5k or stick with 5k miles with a compliant synthetic. Also, these forums are amazing! Changed my N80 valve and a coil pack in a very short amount of time. Now if I could just get some pretty headlights.... |
Your drive sounds like mine, 47 miles to work, 47 miles back! I have been doing mine after 7500 miles has passed. Last oil change was just over 7700 miles ago. I need to get it in soon, but am not worried about it either. I would probably go to 10k before it really started to bother me. I do check my oil weekly and have to add about half a quart every 2k miles or so.

My B7 gets exactly 101 miles a day on it during a work week, and uses a qt of 5-20 synthetic every 2 weeks like clockwork. I have came to the conclusion that I never have to do an oil change, just change the filter every 6 months or so...
So if you are using synthetic, every 15k is fine. |
