Oil Filter change

I just got a few Mann filters. Much to my surprise, they say 30,000 KM/ 2 year.

Not that I would ever go that long, but it again demonstrates the myth of the 3000 mile oil/filter change.

Yeah I agree with you. I would never go that long without an oil change. The transmission fluid is worse, they claim it is a "lifetime fluid". No way!

Yep, it lasts the life of the transmission which may be quite short if the fluid isn't changed.

Yeah, and who was it the other day who's dealer told them the fuel filter is lifetime as well? Oh and don't forget the lifetime windshield wiper blades. Myth? You're too kind, that's just flat out a crock.

I think that's the particulate saturation point for the filter under normal driving conditions - it needs to exceed the recommended time before an oil change. If it had a shorter lifespan, it would clog and cause severe damage to the engine. You want to be sure the filter is still flowing close to 80% capacity before you replace it with the oil change.
