OIL LIGHT...
when you say "oil light" do you mean the oil pressure warning light, or the little service indicator that's under the odometer? if it's the oil pressure warning light, you may have issues... but if it's the service indicator that you're talking about, there's a process for making it go away, here's a link.

FYI...
I just ran across this issue with my A4 1.8T...
About three weeks ago, I had a yellow Oil Min. light come on; therefore, I checked it when I got home. Sure enough, the oil was approaching the Min. market. I topped it off.
A week later, I had a red Oil light come on. I pulled over read the manual - Do NOT Drive. Well, I had the car towed to Audi. This was the first time I had heard of the Oil Sludge issue. It appears Audi has extended the warranty, IF you can PROVE that you have been doing each of your scheduled maintenance points. I had not thought much about keeping oil/filter receipts, it's not like I would drain the oil back out of the engine and return it to the store for a refund. I never really put much thought into needing to prove that I did my oil changes. Any how, it appears Audi wants these receipts stating 5Q oil and 1 full size oil filter.
Just a note to those of you who do your own maintenance or have your oil changed by a third party. Keep those receipts. My car was in the shop three days. I lucked out and was able to find my recent receipt to prove my 50K change. Otherwise, I would have been paying $110 a hour, plus parts.
The Audi dealer meantioned -since I had this problem I'm now covered to 2012 and unlimited miles for oil related issues. Again, scheduled maintenance proof required.
