Oil Temperature Problem

Ok guys, one problem solved, here's the next! I posted not long agon because my 1997 A4 Quattro 2.8 was not starting and cutting out.
This was 2 problems, needed a new coil reader and keys solved the starting prob.
HAd to have the throttle body cleaned and reset solved the cutting out,

Now my oil temp is going off the end of the scale, ie. over 180 celsius. This happened a while ago and I put it down to the sensor and ignored it. Its now happening all the time and I opened the bonnet there's smoke coming from the oil filling hole. It happens within 10 mins of driving. The engine temp is remaining normal,

Any ideas guys or anyone had similar probs?

MAny thanks

RE: Oil Temperature Problem

If your oil pressure light isn't on I would check the temp sender wiring. It is probably grounding out causing that high of a reading.

Oh, is your oil level full?

Just had an oil service so full and brand new filter. Isn't the smoke a sign its not the sensor? Its not a lot of smoke, just a whisp around the filler cap.
