it was only a matter of time...the day is here
well i knew this day would come and today it did. my first check engine light on my audi (2.8 30v quattro). not sure what it is at the moment but it wasnt flashing so im not to scared. heres the story, about a week ago i replaced my transmission (because of a chipped first gear) and while i had the tranny out i replaced the clutch beacause the previous owned told me it never had been changed and the car has 128k (the clutch still felt good too). well the entire thing took me about 3 days cause im lazy, i work slow, and i only work like 5 hours tops a day. i didnt really have time to test the car once i did change everything. this evening i finally had time to really push the car and i noticed 3 things. first i have a pritty bad exhuast leak, not sure where but im hoping its not from the flex join or ill need a new head pipe. i kinda like how it sounds though, much sportier! second is my clutch is way easier the press in. much easier on the leg but i kinda liked the stiff clutch feel from before. the third thing is my car seems to idle a little lower then before. i disconnect my battery while i was doing the work. well when i was driving it this evening the check engine light came on.
the only things i think could cause the cel is
a. the o2 sensor wire touched something hot and melted
b. the rear o2 sensor wire is rubbing the drive shaft
c. the cel was triggered by leaving my battery off for so long??
d. when i took out the exhuast system i damaged the cats or o2 sensors
any other ideas???
anyway ill get the light checked tomarrow as i have to return the clutch alingment tool to the dealership.
