Outside temperature readout showing E
Every once and awhile, my readout for the outdoor temperature displays E. It also sometimes shows negative temperatures during the summer time. Whenever the display is in an E state, the AC will not operate. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Thx!
Just getting back to this. I'll look at swapping the sensor out. Also, based on some of the other posts I pulled/cleaned my throttle body this last weekend and my oscillating idle has cleared up. Glad for that..
Thanks for the welcome. I've got a '99 A4 I purchased brand new. It's been a decent car with a few minor hiccups here and there, but I can't complain. My wife has actually been driving it for the last few years while I drove an old volvo 240. However, now she's got a new minivan so I get MY car back!!! Unfortunately after a few years of neglect I need to spend some time cleaning/fixing the minor issues. This site has been very helpful so far.
One other question. Has anyone heard about a common failure with the Bosch ABS computer. My light has been flashing for a year or so now. I took it to the dealer and they said they could not even communicate with the ABS computer. I've been told that it is a few MOSFETs inside that go bad and there are a few people on EBAY that can repair them. Does anyone have any more information on this, or gone through this?
