Default P0411

my cel was on and i got a reading of P0411 - Secondary air injection system fault.

wondering if this is something i can fix on my own. one of the probable causes it lists is "circut relay defective or fuse open"

any idea what fuse i'd need to replace or how to check if that is in fact what needs to be fixed?

other thoughts on possible easy fixes i can do with my admittedly feable automotive knowledge?

thanks in advance

P0411= Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected.
Its probably nota problem with a relay or a fuse unless the secondary air pump is not running.
Check for any dis-connected lines or lines that are possibly leaking. (Most common by the air box)

secondary air pump going bad is very common... piece of junk!
If you replace it, be sure to replace the combination valve, too.

Is there a write up anywhere on how to replace the secondary air pump?

The most common thing I see that the dealer is the vacuum line going to the combi valve.

im totally new to the whole 1.8t's engine bay and im throwing the samecode. im not really sure where all the parts that you guys frequently talk about are located in the bay. Like where is the vacuum line going to the combi valve and where is the combi valve.? does anyone have pics diagraming these parts? ive also heard that this code can be because of a bad diverter valve. Would this be a good idea to replace it? its not to expensive of a fix and looks kinda easy. Thanks

The combi valve is that big steel canister looking thingy on the back of the engine. You should see a small vaccum line going to it. Follow that vaccum line for any leaks, if none are found or heard the secondary air pump probably went bye bye.
